Description of weather data
METAR is a report describing weather conditions at airport and its vicinity. It is issued every 30 minutes. METAR is prepared by aeronautical meteorological observers. METAR is also generated automatically on some airports, especially during nighttime. On some airports METAR also contains TREND forecast for the next 2 hours.
TAF is a weather forecast for a given airport and is prepared by aeronautical meteorological forecasters. For airports LJLJ and LJMB long TAF (FT) with validity period of 24 hours is prepared. For airports LJPZ and LJCE short TAF (FC) with validity period of 9 hour is prepared. Forecasts are issued every 6 hours at 23, 05, 11, 17 UTC for LJLJ and LJMB with validity periods at 00, 06, 12, 18 UTC and every 3 hours at 23, 02, 05, 08, 11, 14, 17, 20 UTC with validity periods at 00, 03, 06, 09, 12, 15, 18, 21 UTC.
WARNINGS SIGMET or AIRMET are prepared by Meteorological Watch Office and are issued when aeronautical meteorological forecaster on duty predicts or notices possible development of potentially hazardous weather phenomena of SEVERE or MODERATE intensity within LJUBLJANA FIR (covers almost all Slovenia). SIGMET and AIRMET warnings are also issued during thunderstorm activity within LJUBLJANA FIR. On the left hand side warning(s) bulletin(s) is(are) shown. By switching the mouse pointer over the warning, warning bulletin is shown in the lower textbox. At the same time graphical presentation of selected warning is shown in the right hand window.
Text forecast in Slovenian language is prepared by aeronautical meteorological forecasters. It is geographically limited within boundary area of Slovenia. Forecast contains depiction of essential weather information for general aviation and brief prediction of weather conditions for soar flights. Forecast is issued twice a day:
